As phones get smarter, though, Facebook is going to become less and less relevant. To the point where it'll become an unnecessary inconvenience. Then all that will be left at Facebook is a bunch of people you don't want to talk to, Farmville, and annoying relatives who will still phone you every Sunday.

Facebook is a middleman - and no matter how big they get, middlemen are always expendable.
Unlike piece of shit myspace and every other social network site developed between 2000-2007, Facebook is a masterpiece. The first time I accessed the site I was thorougly impressed by how well it was programmed, how intuitive it was, and that my initial thoughts about how quirky and buggy myspace is/was was correct. It wasn't surprising that Facebook quickly took over as #1 social network. I don't expect that to change any time soon. Mark Zuckerberg is quite a smart cookie, and now he's backed by billions of dollars. Old folk, like you and Paul, simply do not understand.
