That's the cool thing with IBP. It doesn't just have rules it compares your site with. It grabs the top 10 results from the SERPS, in real time, based on your keywords and search engine selection, and compares them to your site (or page), to see what is different. it literally tells you WHY they are on top, and you are not.
Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc, can change all the time, and IBP shows you what you need to do to keep up, based on the sites that are currently ranking. Very cool stuff.
It's ranking checker is awesome. I usually do Google, Yahoo and Bing, three pages deep. On one site that's set up for long tail keywords, I have it checking over 100 keyphrases on all three. It takes about two hours to run the report, because the software throttles the requests and waits, making it look like a human is doing searches. You don't want to get blocked from the SEs! It shows me what is ranking in the first three pages of each site, and lets me compare changes from a previous report. Very good info.
If you have plenty of proxies you can tell the software to crank up the speed, with as many concurrent threads per SE as you want. I don't do that, as I don't like abusing the engines.. I just let it run in the background until it's done.
