I think that 65 years ago the world was tired of war. That after losing over 650,000 soldiers that the mindset was we have the means to end this. So they ended it.
I work with a man who's father survived the Bataan death march. I have visited with him over the years and you can rest assured. The Japanese of that era were not warm compassionate people.
World war two was filled with atrocities. Was Dresden necessary? About the same number of civilians burned to death there as what were killed in Hiroshima.
