read the entire article.. it also states that unless you are deserted on an island away from any people you get these 'good germs' from other people anyway and because most people live in cities, towns or communities these days renders it useless and that's why they often go bad and need to be removed.
Mine was removed a year ago and they said it was dead for about six months before they took it out, probably for that very reason.
