I have watched both Boise State and Ore all season - The Ducks look a lot better.

How do you think pre-season rankings/poll get constructed? It's all based on the previous season. And those pre-season rankings do effect the BCS rankings. Oregon went to the Rose Bowl last year and lost. Just making it to the Rose Bowl helped Oregon's pre-season ranking, and thus helped them in the BCS ranking.
Furthermore, if Oregon is confident that it can beat Boise State this year, why did Oregon avoid playing Boise State this year? Oregon had an open date when another team canceled. Boise was willing to play Oregon again. But instead of scheduling a re-match, Oregon scheduled lower division team Portland State.
