Peter Weller (Robocop) on Dexter
I thought that the last season of Dexter (with John Lithgow) was stunning - until the final epsiode - which was ridiculously contrived. It shattered any suspension of belief I may have held. A joke of a season finale. Pathetic.
I was thinking along the same lines this year with Julia Stiles. Contrived. Idiotic. Dexter kills dudes while his sister and the cops are circling the building - yet he follows Julia's rules like a little puppy. The show is now a joke...
Except for Peter Weller. I missed a few episodes, and IMDB says Mr. Weller only appeared in 4 episodes so I guess I missed him dying on the show. He could have easily overcome John Lithgow's character. Peter Weller is a lot smarter than anyone involved with the show, and he's a much better actor than anyone who came before him.
A shame. Stan Liddy is a strong enough character to build a season around. A better actor than Keith Carradine, Julia Stiles, John Lithgow, and Jimmy Smits. Well, I'm a better actor than Jimmy Smits, but...
I'm going to go watch the last three epsodes that I missed, but Robocop would waste Dexter in a second. I have a fellig I'm going to be disappointed.
Peter Weller is smarter than anyone else on Dexter, and he's a better actor, as well. Funny how IMDB doesn't list Engineering An Empire under his credits.
He - and Julia Stiles - must have paid a fortune to try to restore some credibility to this show.
