Does anyone really feel sympathy towards an NFL player? Yeh, they don't all make several million dollars a year and they all bust ass year-round to stay in shape. I just find it a little silly for them to bank on the "Great Recession" for sympathy. Many people can't afford a steak, let alone $90 football tickets... and they want sympathy and support? Come on.

The National Football Association's Players Association, gearing up for a potential lockout next season, is dispatching letters to political leaders in the cities in which the league has teams.
NFLPA President Kevin Mawae wrote similar letters ? which can be read here ? to top city and state officials across the country, warning of losses of some $160 million to each city in the event of a lockout.
?During one of the worst economies since the Great Depression, NFL owners are preparing to cancel the 2011 season and, in the process, devastate New York businesses and stadium workers who count on football Sundays to make ends meet,? Mawae said in a statement to be released with the New York letter. ?It is our hope that the owners will shelve this plan and negotiate in good faith to ensure that we are playing for the fans in 2011.?
The union's aim is to bring public pressure on team owners in advance of the March 4 expiration of the players' contract, and it has dispatched similar letters to governors, governors-elect, mayors and mayor-elect in all NFL cities.
