The website reported a temperature of -27 F (or about -33 C) at the Springbank Airport.

The only place colder ? anywhere ? was the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica, where it was -36 F (or -38 C), according to wx-now.com.

The weather- and astronomy-tracking website is operated by Inner Drive Technology, a Chicago-based developer of custom software applications.

A little closer to home, Environment Canada forecasts a high in Calgary of -20 C for Tuesday ? we'll take it ? and an overnight low of -26 C.

Temperatures should improve through the rest of the week in Calgary. Environment Canada predicts highs of -13 C Wednesday, - 5 C Thursday, and 1 C Friday.

By the way, the forecast highs for the rest of the week in Iqaluit are 2 C Wednesday, zero Thursday, and 1 C Friday. Book your vacation now.

In Minn when the winds and snow come from the NW we call em Alberta Clippers. True.

Minn (International Falls and surrounding towns) are also ducumented to be the coldest places (on ave) in the U.S.

They usually hit about -50F or so a couple times at least each winter.

But our cold comes from Alberta. Much respect.
