two facts
1. the police admitted that they didn't turn off dht and therefore had no idea if the pirate bay trackers were even involved in the transaction
2. they proved that google indexes torrents as well (just put the .torrent extension in the advanced search) and the only justification that could be given was that they obey an AMERICAN law.
while that might be a reason for the companies not to WANT to go after google, that doesn't represent a reason why google should be IMMUNE to prosecution by any copyright holder who wants the police to investigate.
anti discrimination laws are are hell of a lot stronger in that part of europe so police would have to go after google based on the request of any copyright holder who wanted that to make such a claim.
btw
all the cops have to do is redownload the torrent, turn off dht and assuming the process is the same as before, download the content, using only the pirate bays trackers to have a legitimate conviction.
smokey why are you trying to defend a bogus case, rather then demanding they just make the simple change necessary to actually follow the law.
