Great band. Saw them live once and they were amazing. That same weekend I had a weird South Park moment with Michael Stipe.

It was several years ago and REM was the closing act for Bumbershoot in Seattle. The Seattle Art Museum was having a Picasso show that month as well. So I went up to Seattle for the weekend, checked out a few bands then Saturday afternoon went to the museum. I walk into one of the rooms and there I see Stipe and this other guy looking at the paintings. He glances and me, I look at him and I can tell he knows that I know who he is. I didn't want to bother him so I just looked that paintings then as I left the room I stopped and said, "Michael, just wanted to say I'm looking forward to your show tomorrow night and that New Adventures in Hi Fi is one of the best albums of all time." He said thanks and I left.

Afterward I felt like I was in that episode of South Park where Mega-Streisand is attacking and they get Mega-Robert Smith from The Cure to chase her off then as he is leaving Stan screams out, "Disintegration is the best album ever!"
