j/k - it's probably because those of us who are experts at particular things, run businesses in those things, and fly sigs w/ links to those businesses would like to show off our expertise in hopes to get clicks to our sig links. Okay, and some of us actually do enjoying helping people if we can, and answering a question is an easy enough thing to do.
