BTW, edam is not only famous because it is a dutch tourist city. Edam / Volendam is well known of its 'paling sound' = 'eel sound'. Some famous Dutch artist live there. BZN, Jan Smith, Piet Veerman, The Cats, Nick and Simon. Yolanthe lived there, she is now with Wesley Snijder, a dutch soccer player.
