This idea was actually proposed right here on GFY and I believe on porn city about 7 or 8 years ago. About 50 of us were talking about throwing in and buying an island off the coast of S. America and starting our own country.
But it never grew to anything more than idle chit chat, largely because even just in the threads about it there were too many people disagreeing about "how it should be" lol.
"We'd still have to have a tax system"
"No, no taxes! That's the whole point of it!"
"How would we defend our new country? I say we install machine gun nests every 100 yards around the island"
"What about a sewage system? I'm not crapping in an outhouse"
"Will we have regular food deliveries? Is there such a thing as a floating Safeway where we could go aboard and shop?"
and my personal favorite: "You're all idiots"
I think there are still several islands for sale down there though if anyone wants to actually try it. :D
