for me wikileaks is great.

i say that as i am liberal and belive in freedom of speech.

I say this becase I belive its opening up goverments across the world.

They say it will put lives at risk, but more I see the more I belive thats the 'scare spin' they want to put out.

To me the cat is out of the bag. Its too late to shut down. Even if the site closes more will open and we have mirror sites too.

The media are behind wikileaks from what I can see in the UK.

The public in the UK is also suporting wikileaks. At about 1.30 pm there is a demonstration to asuport this chap.

Many well known UK people are backing him.

This could make the UK goverment very unpopular.

So far the bulk of files seem to be more about keeping info from us, rather than other goverments/countries. By this I mean non of the info would seem relevent to other countries but more relevent to the people. For instance in the last few hours info on why the locerby bomber was released has been published. This is info only relevent to the people of the UK and USA, no goverment in any country could care less.

And lets not kid ourselves, any important documents will be known by other countries anyway. We know many countries have spies still working. Lets be honest we all know the UK will have spies in other counytries as well as the USA and russia having spies. Goverments know everyones secrets. The only ones who do not are us (the people).

So why should we not know this info?

If we are too stupid or cannot be trusted with this info, then why should we be alowed to vote?

I belive that this will change goverments all over the world to be more honest and open. I would sugest it will make the world a safer place too.

I think we have far too long accepted that it was fine for goverments to hide documents away and get people to sign confidential agreements. Sure during wars its one thing, but I suspect that things brought in during such as ww2 have stuck.

So I say wikileaks is great.

I do not fear wikileaks. I fear those who are trying to shut wikileaks down.

I wonder if in the long run such as paypal will regret bowing down to presuer from 'the man' and should have suported wikileaks.
