Sure. But you don't see an increase in surveillance and security around the nation?
If someone doesn't travel much you are probably not exposed to it.
I've been gone for a while and it's not because I thought the GOV was out to get me or anything, I just prefer living in a strange land. With that said, over here you have to be somewhat prepared for other things that can happen. Lots of political unrest here as well as terrorist groups, but the difference is if the shit hits the fan here, I have a chance.

Anyone who is serious about surviving ANYTHING has a bug out bag.
People don't understand how fragile the system is and most are not prepared. Be it massive long term power failures to natural disaster to large scale riots to god knows what, if you're not ready your chances of making it through it is slim.
How many people know how to find water and filter it if there is none? How many have food reserves to last more than a few days? How many people know enough first aid to treat yourself or someone else in the event help can not come to you? How many people know how to deal with sewage in the event they had to? How many people have weapons and can protect their family? The list goes on, but point is, as I'm sure you are well aware of, most people are sleeping, usually in denial, and are literally fucked should something bad happen.
