I've found in my experience that the really high quality companies and people running them tend to get proactive and make things right when a mess like this occurs. In this case such a company would probably either reinstate the affiliates in question and give them a fair chance to update or delete the "old pages/links", OR they would pay these people out what they're owed and move on.
Putting everyone on ignore and playing the thread-pissing game is never a sign of a quality company, or it's people. And where lost money is concerned I've found that more often than not a few personal attacks on the board is par for the course. Don't want personal attacks? Then make the situation right. Period.
To me the choice is clear.
