I would say in all the years that I have had a computer I have only gotten a serious virus a couple of times and it didn't take me too long to fix. I keep an anti-virus software on, updated it all the time and run an anti-spyware once per month. If it does find something it only take one mouse click and it is clean.
Here is what don't get with the Mac. Maybe I would never have to worry about viruses or spyware and not need software to fight them. But I'm not a designer nor am I involved in music of video production. So would a Mac make my life all that much easier?
Don't Macs sometimes have issues running some software? Aren't Mac versions of some software more money? What about a Mac would make my life easier. I would be open to switching if I saw a real legit reason for it, but it seems to me the main thing about a Mac is that they are pretty virus-proof and they look cool. But I don't know if paying 3-4 times as much as I would for a PC for those things is worth it.
