gun ownership in the US is as American as the flag and apples pies. I do not own any firearms at all but I support the right of law abiding citizens to keep them. The problems with guns in the US is the criminals that get them. They are the ones who will use them for reasons other than hunting, sport shooting, personal and property protection. The sad part is that a criminal is more likely to acquire a weapon not from legally licensed dealers, but from nefarious means and so banning them or regulating them to death would simply make the bad guys badder
