Well he did have maybe a couple bad games this year, but most of the losses are surely not hung on him. Special teams was atrocious this year. If I'm not mistaken, we had 4 blocked punts by the halfway point of the season, more than in the entire rest of Scifres career (in fact if I recall correctly he had only 1 prior to this season) and our kickoff return coverage blew hard. Our playoff losses have usually been attributed to injuries, key players other than Rivers falling apart *coughKAEDINGcough* or Norv doing shitty play calling - Rivers himself hasn't really dropped the ball in big games afaik. I guess it could be said he wasn't having his better games later this season, but it's not as if the team did that poorly down the stretch - we just sucked ass early this year and given KC got to 10-6 to win the division, it's impossible to expect playoffs after a 2-5 start.
As much as the team pulled through that start and special teams was much to blame for some losses, I think it hangs on Norv's head more than anything because poor starts have become a trend under his leadership and it really causes the team to spend all of its efforts just to make it to the playoffs, leaving them out of steam at some point in the playoffs.
