I do this all the time in XP (still the best version of Windows). In Windows Explorer right click on whatever directory or drive you want to search, choose Search. A windows opens with boxes for what you want to search for, and under it "Containing text".
Took me 5 seconds to Google the fact that Windows 7 doesn't seem to work like this and is therefore even more shit than I thought already. Try this suggestion:
"Go to Folder Options and select 'Always search file names and contents'
Probably the file types still have to be set up correctly in Advanced Options of Indexing Options"
If that doesn't work (and I would would personally not hit Windows 7, so I have no idea) Google for a better answer or download Astrogrep.
