Yeah I have read about this on numerous occasions. People were getting their entire networks hacked and couldn't figure it out. Pretty sure some virus sites released information that some specifically grab the filezilla db file. I am sure any other unsecured FTP program would be subject to the same kind of attack though.
Unfortunately I am still stuck on Filezilla but haven't had a virus nor hack in ages.
Planned to go the secured route but I have too much data to import in a timely fashion...one of these days.
