And I liked Joel, and found him to be much wittier and smarter than the average Porn Valley types. But most of us in the biz here in LA--you included, I'm sure--knew he had personal demons that prevented him from running his business and his life effectively.

A lot of people are quick to blame the economy when adult programs go under. "It's the sign of the times". Yet I think more of these "adult programs" were less of real companies and more of some broke thirty year old living with their parents hoping to start a porn company only to fall apart at tax time when they discover they can't pay the taxes on what little profit they made.
These people shouldn't have been in business in the first place. But sometimes the entry barrier to our industry is set so low.
(no dis-respect to this Joel guy; I never heard of him. I'm just speaking in general terms.)
