:stoned *** Vegas Pix - CES, AVN. Internext, Parties, Photo Shoots ***

What Happens in Vegas Happened to Me!!!

Well, at least that is the slogan on a gift shop t-shirt that I saw when I passed one of the tourista shops that you find here and there along the Strip.

I've been to Las Vegas many times, going back more than a few decades. Each time has been special, and this one was no different.

What follows are photos I took of the Strip, CES, AVN, Internext, parties, and photo sessions, all shot tourista style with a humble Canon Rebel with on-camera flash/Speedlite, and my good ol' iPhone:

The Model Photo Sessions are out of sequence, but I'll put them first to get your attention...

I arrived in Las Vegas a day before the start of the AVN show in order to check out the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The show draw hundreds of thousands of electronics industry professionals each year.

The mood at CES overall this year was upbeat. I got the impression that there was a positive outlook, or perhaps maybe that's the only impression one can be left with after seeing such an impressive array of future technology being shown to you by marketing vultures.

In case you missed the buzz, 3D was a big friggin' deal this year at CES. The current technology is impressive, but the future stuff will totally blow you away. 3D without glasses, it's coming sooner than you think!!!

How I wish that I could plop down $60k down right now and buy three new 3D video cameras. Alas, I saw a few sub $1,000 3D cameras that are worth checking out just to get the hang of things. I expect 3D technology to expand rapidly as soon as it becomes more widely accepted by consumers and standards are set.

All I can say is that the show was definitely impressive.

There were some really interesting live sessions. This first one I attended featured Michael Mann (Miami Vice, Heat), Oliver Stone (Platoon, JFK, Natural Born Killers, Wall Street), and Baz Luhrmann (Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge):

My favorite presentation was by Vincent Laforet - it was sponsored by Canon, which had a most impressive display area:

There was a good BTS about the upcoming Green Hornet movie presented by Sony. To be honest I think Sony had the most kickass pavilion:

Where does he get such wonderful toys?:

More of Sin City to come...
