I applaud you for this thread. I've often wondered what women producers in this biz must think about the rediculously almost mandatory facial.
Although I do see the appeal of an occasional face pop I think the ubiquitousness of them has gone past the absurd and is definitely rooted in misogyny.
As a producer and talent I can tell you it adds a level of degradation to a shoot that is in most cases just unnecessary and stupid. I wouldn't mind seeing the practice fade.
