I despise the topic and the OP for creating it, but for the sake of trying to have civil conversation here, are you telling me that if we never brought black people over from Africa to become slaves, they would have been highly educated and invented just as much? I don't think so.
The fact is that much of Africa is 3rd world, and most black people's roots are from Africa. It's only a correlation, nothing causal i.e. for some reason them being black is why Africa is 3rd world, but it is what it is. Anyone of any other background living in 3rd world areas would probably have no better or worse chance of inventing anything either. Slavery is obviously one of the biggest travesties of the history of the US (along with damn near wiping out Native Americans) but the fact that black people were brought out of a 3rd world area and into a more technologically advanced society despite the horrendous circumstances surrounding it has ultimately helped grow that list of inventions by black people. A bad thing plus a good thing equaled a good thing, and even that perspective is subjective since the only reason our quality of life is really any better than 3rd world quality of life is because of prevalence of starvation and disease (i.e. I'm sure most people in Africa couldn't give less of a shit about computers or internet and are probably live much less empty lives than we do).
All that said, IF there's a greater percentage of inventions by white people than percentage of white people in technologically advanced society, 2 causes of that IMO are both the racism that does cause advantage towards white people (and there is some of it still...as much as myself and most people I know aren't racist, there's still a lot that are and a lot of racist actions by such people in power would rarely if ever be known to be racist) and the use of racism as an obstacle/excuse for a non-white person to lower their own ceiling. For what it's worth, even though I'm not convinced Obama has done a good job as president, the fact that he became president I think will at the very least help reduce that 2nd issue, which I think is good for our society. Color blindness goes both ways - people should be color blind and not treat others any differently based on color, and people should not let others' lack of color blindness bind them.
