About Med Insurance in USA

I'm not American but heard a lot about rising insurance costs and such. It may be non professional but I would like to compare paying car insurance and medical. The idea would be pay less for a chance to get paid much more. Reading gfy it feels like people pay a lot and barely use 1/5 of what they pay in medical services.

The other example I have is a buddy of mine living in Brooklyn shitty apartment working a tech clerk who pays $300 month medical insurance, don't know much about it but he says he has $800 deductable or something.

In general, i think this medical market is way too overheated, cus if 50% people can't afford it WHY does ti still exist? WHy prices dont go down? Why surgical help is SO EXPENSIVE?
