Dating sites are great for people who are searching for a fling or for people who enjoy the act of dating. Honestly the majority of online dating is superficial. No matter what is contained in a profile it's more about pictures and physical attraction.

If someone is seeking a serious long term relationship and they want to search online I advise people to find what they are passionate about and go for message boards.

It seems like there are forums for almost every aspect of life- from art, to music to video games. If you want to find someone you're compatible with what better to start with than what you're passionate about or most enjoy doing in your spare time. That's my opinion anyway.
