1) If the USA gov felt it needed to shut off the internet for whatever reason they came up with, they could. It would more than likely happen as a national security act. If you think it could never happen, you're a bigger idiot than I think you are.

2) If you don't think the police, National Guard (and eventually the military) would not be called out in the event of full scale rioting these days, then I have to retract my statement from point #1 and say you are THE dumbest mother fucker here.
