My idea is that their products left a lot to be desired, and they never really delivered much value to surfers to begin with. Companies that were previously dependent on licensed content and striving to deliver a top-notch product to consumers realized this a long time ago, and started shooting content for themselves in-house, or hiring the top photographers to shoot it for them exclusively. It was ultimately the companies that continued to maintain their failing business models of solely buying licensed content that have gone by the wayside. The guys that were producing excellent content were never never licensing it for sale on the content brokerage sites, they were selling directly to consumers. It was only shooters that were really big on licensed content who were the ones that were never able to establish themselves with any long-term exclusive content contracts.
