I have no direct experience with this camera. BUT!!! Ahhh, there's always a but. Someone very recently sent me some footage that was shot on a step down camera from this one. His was a Insignia NS-DV720P 5MP Digital Camcorder. Not sure on the one you're asking about but on the one I mentioned, it records to mov or avi. But the avi is some weird avi that neither Vegas nor Pinnacle will properly recognize. There's video there and it'll play in any player that will play avi's but when you try to load it into an editing software, it either won't take it or screws it up. My initial solution was to convert the video into mp4 but in the conversion it moved the audio off by about 4 seconds from the video. Perhaps not that big of an issue when it's one long clip. But when it's 10, it's a pain.

That's all I know.

If you're going to buy it, I'd make sure I bought that Insignia thing from a company that doesn't charge a restocking fee. I believe they stopped making them but if I were buying a new camera in that range(sorta), I'd go with a Canon HV30/40. If you don't want to record to tape, then a Sony HDR-XR150.

Probably some other good ones out there but those are the ones with which I have direct experience.

Oh let's see.....hmmmm....what else......oh yeah.....see sig baby!!!! :-)
