Usually those who protest and risk their lives are not looters. Looters are poor people, not giving a damn on protests, leadership, politics, etc. And what is deterring them is the vigilante groups in neighborhoods and the army in the center (including at the Egyptian Museum), but that's for the few days still left for Mubarak, until he flees or is captured by senior army officials. After that, when a power vacuum is in place for many days, you'll see the real looting.
