That's all. It deserves to win awards and be nominated. The acting was good. They had a great idea of making a movie about something that hits a very large audience. I am very glad they did. I was more interested in seeing the story behind it than any other movies lately.
If awards were simply about how complex and well done a movie was, all nominees would be completely different.

with that logic The Net and The Phantom Menace were the best movies of all time.. both popular subject matter, both complex beyond words... The truth is you like it, but you have unique tastes. Movies that get nominated appeal to larger numbers.
I didn't like it because the characters were contrived and despicable, i mean ALL of them so I don't even understand the appeal myself. With that being said it did have elements of a good movie. There were scenes that were well done, as someone mentioned earlier the twins in europe with their race and them realizing they have been punked intertwined with that peer gynt classic was a fantastic scene, but there wasn't a lot of other scenes that stood out and it was a mish mash and lost track as soon as the rock star showed up (napster douchebag)
I understand why this has a bit of a cult following, but it really isn't anything beyond that.
