But then suddenly everyone in the mall, all stores, discover the profits to be made in selling sunglasses. So now instead of competing with eight stores, you competing with two hundred stores. Everyone is selling sunglasses.
But wait. There's a guy standing outside of the mall directing traffic across the street to a restaurant (i.e. social networking sites). But then at the restaurant there is a guy giving away free sunglasses.
So... You rent space in the mall to compete against 200 other stores selling the same shit, but no one goes there any more because they are at the restaurant getting free sunglasses with their drinks. Or.... Everyone in the world is selling porn but sixty precent of all Internet traffic goes to Facebook and Twitter, and others are giving away porn for free.
Combine that with the economic conditions we have and we are super screwed!
That might be the best thing I ever read on GFY.

For someone that's been around so long your analogies are so utterly flawed.
What it is actually like is someone goes into the mall for the glasses. They see a free trial. Wear the glasses for 3 days. No cost. So they do, then a month later see a charge for 300 bucks on their credit card and get pissed off with this store and never go back to the mall.
Someone else goes in, and buys a pair, but a month later sees a charge for another pair he didn't ask for or want. He is pissed and never goes to the mall.
Someone else walks past the glasses store and they have more free glasses, all he has to do is read this flyer. But the flyer disconnects him from the store, reconnects him to a premium store that costs 1.50 a minute to simply stand out side. He gets a bill in a month for 850 bucks, and didn't even get any glasses. He doesn't go back either.
Someone else really wants some nice glasses, sees a beautiful store front, goes in and buys the designer glasses, only to find out when he got home they are a POS, and don't do what he was told they do. He doesn't go back.
It's so fucking easy to blame piracy, which has been in existence since the dawn of time, on the fact that as an industry we've been fucking over our customers for the last 15 years and finally they have gotten wise.
Music industry faces same piracy problems, they are growing legal digital downloads.
Movie industry faces same piracy problems, they are growing legal digital downloads.
Software industry faces same piracy problems, they are growing legal digital downloads.
Porn industry faces same piracy problems, we cry like bitches and blame Fabian.
