As one of the first people my area to get cable internet years ago, I was loving my crazy download and upload speeds with Cablevision. I've watched the service slowly deteriorate over the years, because as we all know, cable gets overloaded as the number of users increases, and now everyone and their fucking grandma has broadband.
In the last few months, I've been getting almost 1mbps down if I'm lucky. If its a day when everyone's inside, like a snow day or a Sunday night -- forget it. I couldn't do anything and it was almost like being back in the old phone modem days.
So Cablevision's advertising says my package should be 15mbps down and 5 up. I was getting 1/15th of what I supposed to -- and that is if I was having a good day. So I called them up to find out what the fuck was going on. Why have you not upgraded your service to handle all of the users?
The lady told me I could get the "boost" feature for an extra $9.95 a month. This would bring my speed up to 30mbps. So I ordered it, because what fucking choice do I actually have. They're the only game in town, as we don'tr have Fios yet.
Instantly, my speed went up to 28mbps down, and almost 8 up. So those fuckers had capped me down to 1mbps until I paid the extra 10bucks per month. It's sneaky and horrible business practice, but like i said, I don't have a choice. I'll speak with my wallet when Fios is available, and drop those fuckers -- along with a lot of other customers.
