when you consider the advances in technology on earth in the last 100 years, you would only need a civilisation to be a few 1000 years ahead of us and anything could be possible as far as travel.
just in our galaxy there's 100's of billions of stars, just like our sun with planets orbiting around it, and then there's 100's of billions of galaxy's - just in the observable universe. i just checked and there's 70000000000000000000000 stars that are visible. So there's no doubt whatsoever that other life exists out there, it's just a case of whether its visited us yet. i wouldn't be suprised.
