Im think you miss understood me. I am happy that affiliate only account for about 8% of my sales.. A lot of businesses in the past have pop up and made money and ran off and never really cared about long term business or rebill or anything else. Right now we have over 500 sales that are credited to affiliates that are from 2004, and they just keep rebilling.
Last year was a good year, while many programs are dyeing in this business a lot of it is because they didn't know how to sell there own product. Lucky we generate our own traffic and we know what works and what doesn't work, we know what niches convert and what doesn't, that is why last year was a growth year ( not by much, but we did grow)
One of the things that doesn't work for us is easy access to mass amounts of content. People will steal content, that is no big secret, but if you make it a bit harder it helps a lot to figure out what is popular ( what is worth stealing) and what isn't . Having an affiliate program with 54gigs of galleries is just too much too easy.
Yes. We will accept new affiliate very soon. We mostly will just want to see a web site or just to talk to the people ( i am open to suggestions on how to approve affiliates)
I learned a lot from the affiliate summit, for example If you go to a car dealership to get a job as a sales man, you need to show a resume, maybe a drug test, and a ton of other things to sell there product. If you go to an webmaster program, generally you just sign up and away you go selling there product.. with out any knowledge of the adult product you are selling and I have no knowledge of who is selling my program except for a minimal amount of information. This is what I am planning to change with my program.
