So if I were the webmaster for the site PiratedMovies.com, and I had some sort of video-streaming player embed, it would be totally A-OK to show a full-length motion picture simply because I'm not hosting it?

MPAA and copyright law would most likely disagree.

What counts is where the content appears to the surfer, in addition to whoever is hosting it.
