Check out DomainTools. They have a good domain monitoring service that does much of what you seek. And it's is free.

Ideally, one would also want to monitor the registrar whois (in particular for thin registries, such as .com and .net), but that's a lot more difficult to do. For many domainers registry monitoring is sufficient enough, but realize it's not full-proof.

On a related note, some registrars maintain their own separate whois data for thick registries too (ie. .org and .info) despite not being necessary. eNom is one that does this - data mismatches are possible, especially if the domain has been pushed to another user within eNom's system - they update their local whois, but not always the registry whois.
