I guess it depends on where you live and what is important to you. To me, a good living is when I make enough to pay all my bills, have a good savings and retirement account, and have enough money to buy the things I want like a new tv or dvd player without having to check the price tag or worry about sacrificing other things I need/want.

While I don't make enough to go out a say buy a new house on a whim, I certainly make more than enough to be happy, have 2 full time writers on staff, a graphics guy, a lawyer on retainer, donate a few grand to charity every year, and take several weeks of vacation time a year

That said, I don't write for others anymore but I did for years and it did pay the bills I'm not suggesting anyone here write for a living, these ideas are mainly geared towards getting your articles in mainstream published to help develop long term traffic to your mainstream sites.
