1. A person who leaves one country to settle permanently in another.
People who are born in the USA and live in the USA ARE NOT immigrants. The fact that someone in their family tree was doesn't make them one. Immigrant only applies to the person that immigrated.
You can say decedents of immigrants but you can't say we are all immigrants.
