I for damn sure not defending SR, but this is actually a great post. I've been on both sides of this fence and have no problem when a webmaster tries to gain an edge on their competitor. IMO
The the whitehat holy crusaders are usually the ones that scream/cry the loudest because they have the most to hide or lose.
"There are many here who use questionable methods" - Who here sets the rules or can judge any methods? I've had sites pulled, servers shut down, domains sandboxed, and even death threats in the last 14 years. BUT I also know what it's like to click once and $10k was made in a day.
WTS, I know people on this forum who actually parade around wearing a whitehat pointing fingers at others who themselves stole content, hacked servers, called agencies (IRS), mass spammed competitors sites, start rumors, or straight out steal someones business concept they've been friends with for years. Hell, there are proclaimed whitehaters on this forum that are felons and one (that I know of) who is a registered sex offender. How many of those
whitehat holy crusaders affiliate programs and processor in the past/now rip millions from webmasters in this very forum?
The point, there are no rules and actually shake my head at many here who actually think they need some type of connection, approval, or acceptance, to make money on the internet or in this forum. You don't because in the last 6 years you can get all the resource you need to build and market any type of site without anyone's help or popularity approval. Matter of fact, you are setting yourself up if you do. Why? Because you're all in competition with each other.
