No need to fear China at all. Their military technology is twenty years behind us, and they have a blue ocean navy - they stay close to home and don't pay too much attention to the drama in the rest of the world. On top of this, China needs the US. We are by far their biggest customer.
Then there is the oil factor. Everyone in the US thinks that all oil comes from the Middle East, while the truth is the US produces a lot of oil itself, and after that our biggest oil importers are Canada and Mexico. We get more oil from Venezuela than Iraq. But China gets sixty percent of it's oil from the Middle East - and guess who happens to have hundreds of thousands of troops in the Middle East?
