For Video i use Kino Flo http://www.kinoflo.com/

For Stills i use Pro Photo http://www.profoto.com/

But im seriously thinking about swapping over to HMI to use for both, Arri make the best HMI kit but its at a price. $34,000 will set you up with a modest HMI set up with Arri

If you are unsure how many lights you need perhaps you need to take a course like the one Dean is offering ? http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/1009966-photography-workshop.html

You can get a lot cheaper lights like Alien Bees, but i doubt they would take the beating my Pro Photo lights get when i fly to and from Argentina, Prague and the UK with them. If you dont intend to travel with your kit go for the less expensive set up. After all you can pay $50,000 for lighting kit but if you dont know how to light you are throwing your money down the drain.

A good photographer can use a cheap set up and produce amazing results if he knows what he's doing !
