Why would they lower their prices? Back in the day, they were the only registrar available. They registered millions upon millions of domains, many from companies who don't care if it's $30 or $6.
All they do is sit back, collect the renewal fees, while they setup a subsiduary like NameCheap to compete with today's market, after ICANN allowed multiple registrars in.
