Reading the article I suspect the loss of Visa was a major blow. Then he decided to pull up the drawbridge on whatever was left. Without Visa pulling out I think Epass would still be going. It was as the article said, a cash cow.
And there's still money left somewhere. If he's still funding movies he was left with something from who and where we don't know.
