One angle to consider to answer the 60K question:

Does the risk outweight the benefit.

Make a list of of both of pro's and con's, then its in black and white :-)

I would never wheel and deal my freedom away but thats me. If your a fire starter don't do it, if you have done all you can to be independent and have only hit 40K, consider it.

If your of great value perhaps you can keep your independence and make a consulting deal for less money, this way you maybe accept 20K as consultant combined with your 40K from independence, and you bag the 60K total you were enticed about at the beginning.

Last point is if you take the job for experience you can always come back and be independent, if you do this I would hope you have some job security in writing.....

Maybe keep your business on the side and let someone manage your "properties" for a nice cut that way if the job goes belly up your not starting from nothing.
