I applaud... and I'm talking that mental nod of respect kind of applause, not the kind from that guy who walks around clapping in public while throat-laughing out loud like a drooling psych ward escapee off his meds.
I applaud people who:
- May have or have had a drinking problem, but through their own force of will have come to terms with it such that they can actually have a drink or two and leave it at that. They not only know when they've had enough but realize they DO have the willpower to stop and still have a good time rather than keep telling themselves they have no control over it. (thus ensuring they make it home alive, and without killing anyone else)
- don't litter. Here's to all those who realize the whole world isn't their own personal toilet.
- don't interrupt others. There are some people who are seriously in love with the sound of their own voice and/or suffer from ADD to the extent they can't let anyone else finish a sentence. Pretty much people who know when to shut up and listen when someone else is talking and wait their turn before chiming in deserve a standing ovation. Here's to you.
- do what they say they're going to do. "I'll call you tomorrow at 6 pm"... well, DO IT. "I'll have your order ready by Friday".... well, DO IT. Don't make me wonder midway through the next week why I haven't heard from you. People who keep their word (or call if they can't) get huge applause from me.
- people who, even when plastered beyond reason at 3 am, have at least one working braincell with sense enough to NOT DRINK AND FUCKING DRIVE.
So who do you applaud?
