A new EU ruling came today, making it illegal to charge different insurance premiums based on gender since this is a form of discrimination. It will come into effect as of December 21st, 2012 so insurance companies will have some time to adjust their premiums and terms, but it will affect all EU countries and this ruling is from the highest court, so it cannot be appealed any higher or overturned.
