I think the amount of money to give to the "amateur star" is related to the selling price..
Selling price - "stars" payment = net profit
Now the next question could be...would you prefeir to increase the selling price or decrease the star payment? i would say both but i would prefeir to pay the "amateur stars" more so they work better.
Sorry for this little reasoning i'm an economist   
But the real question is to quantify the amount...  how much?
