I'm not one to normally jump on the politics bandwagon one way or another (check my prior posts to be sure lol) BUT this whole thing in Japan / Obama has kind of got me a bit pissed....
When the initial 8.9 quake hit Japan I was working my moonlight job, when I saw the AP wire report hit that a huge quake just hit Japan, within 15-20 mins ALL news stations dropped their reg sched programming and did wall to wall quake coverage....
The next morning / afternoon when all the talk was about tsunamis heading to the states (WA, CA, HA, etc etc) AND the possible meltdown of one or more nuke plants that MAY have an effect on the west coast ALL stations HYPED "Obama will speak about this in 2 hours, 1 hour, 30 mins, 5 mins, TWO MINUTES"
When Obama took the mic here is what he said about Japan....
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the people effected in Japan. now I'd like to talk about gas prices"
He then spent the next 20 mins or so droning on about gas prices and some sort of gas tax break that will appear in your paychecks.
He really dropped the ball, since we'd been hearing for the last 12 hours that the US WOULD be effected by the quake, tsunami and any possible nuke plant issues he could of / should have at least ADDRESSED those issues (Like his press people claimed he would)
I dunno, I just don't think he handled this situation the right way.
